Galco has achieved this position through strategic partnerships with leading international manufacturers. In 1999 Galco introduced the Hauraton range of Channel Drainage systems to the Irish market. Hauraton has an excellent reputation for manufacturing the highest quality GRC concrete and recycled plastic channels for domestic and contract situations. They have also developed a range of earth and gravel stabilizers along with High Capacity channels and two alternative Attenuation systems. Galco further strengthened its position in the market with the addition of the Decathlon range of High Capacity channels and combined kerb drainage from Envirokerb.

The introduction of the Greater Dublin Regional Code of Practice for Drainage Works coincided with the launch of Galco’s latest range of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems. New product development has concentrated on Permeable Surfaces, High Capacity Drainage Channels and Attenuation systems. These now complete a range of products that fully address today’s environmental and regulatory issues. to deliver sustainable solutions to the problems of surface water management in an innovative and responsible way.

Design Service

in order to facilitate specifiers, Galco has developed a complete design service in conjunction with the hydraulic engineers in Hauraton. This service only requires the completion of a standard form detailing the following specific site infortmation:

• Site drawings / drainage area
• Surface types
• Gradients
• Soil type
• Geographical location
• Inflow requirements
• Outflow requirements / restrictions
• Load classification

From this information Galco will provide a detailed site layout and CAD drawings, along with all the necessary hydraulic calculations and data sheets. We also provide full specification details and costings. On reciept of the order, Galco will offer onsite assistance to the contractor to ensure installation requirements are clearly understood and complied with. Galco Steel Limited will be sponsors of the Designing SUDS Training (29/30 March 2007 at Engineers Ireland, Ballsbridge, Dublin) - part of modular SUDS training organized by CIRIA.
