Our client base, like our business base, is broad and ranges from rapidly expanding retailers (like Robert Dyas and Bathstore) through restaurant chains (like Burger King, Pizza Express and O’Briens sandwich bars), property agents (like Cattaneo), principal contractors and any business, local or national, large or small, which needs and values the services we have to offer.

All our services are dependent on effective project management. The client chooses which of our capabilities are appropriate for his needs. Our projects will range from straightforward installations to complete turnkey services. We undertake full project management responsibility for many of our clients, involving us in property acquisition, planning applications, design drawings (electrical work, merchandising layouts, shop front signage, office layout etc), liaison with solicitors and property agents, and responsibility for on-going maintenance and dilapidation programmes.

Company History

Steve Lewis founded ICM in 1998, following a number of years in Retail Development with the “flat pack” furniture giant MFI. Having had responsibility for procuring shop fitting services on behalf of MFI during their rapid expansion phase, Steve vowed not to make the same mistakes as his former suppliers when he left to set up his own business. The result was ICM, a highly client-centric organisation, able to offer the full suite of services required by the expanding retailer.

Any retailer will know that control of building trades is critical to successful retail development. ICM has found that the best way to keep control is to have those building trades in house. That was the original thinking behind the founding of ICM Electrical Ltd and ICM Plumbing & Heating Ltd, to support the shop-fitting business. Interestingly, the requirements of our retail clients have driven us to forge something quite unique – a building trades business with real client focus!! ICM Electrical and ICM Plumbing & Heating compete successfully with any other electromechanical contractor on their home turf.

We offer a complete retail premises development service, which can be accessed in whole or in part to suit the clients’ needs. From concept design and layout to project management of builds and complete turn-key operations, we are a single source for all the varied trades and products required to realize a fully fitted and functional retail outlet. Our work covers new stores and refurbishments, single site and multi site projects.

ICM Electrical

We have a dedicated team of qualified electricians providing electrical installation and maintenance services for commercial premises. Capabilities include three phase, single phase and fire alarm installations for office, warehouse and factory premises. Services include design, testing, inspection standards and a technical helpline.

ICM Maintenance & Repairs

We have a dedicated project management team providing a fast, responsive maintenance and repairs service on both a local and national basis, for plumbing & heating, electrical, joinery, decoration, tiling & flooring and general building work.

ICM Office Interiors

Our Office Interiors team has the expertise and resource to offer the total office solution, from the redesign of a reception area for a small company to a major relocation project involving a complete corporate refurbishment exercise.

ICM Exhibitions

Our Exhibitions Team has a growing reputation as a specialist designer and builder of bespoke exhibition stands.

ICM Plumbing & Heating

Our dedicated team offers a full plumbing and Corgi Registered gas central heating installation and maintenance service for our commercial clients.

ICM has been the leading shop fitting contractor for two of the UK’s most expansionist retailers in recent years - Robert Dyas, the fast growing hardware and DIY retailer, soon to celebrate its 100th location opening and Bathstore.com, the UK’s largest specialist bathroom retailer, with over 100 stores now in operation and a further 100 planned for next year.
